From 2015 to 2018, I was rather nomadic moving nonstop from Tennessee to Mississippi, back to Tennessee, then to Nebraska where I currently reside. Through those years, I have had to say goodbye to so many people along the way. One of the joys and heartaches of being constantly on the move is the fact that I get to run into many friends and colleagues across the country only to be quickly parted again soon afterwards. This feeling of excitement from reuniting mixed with the somberness of knowing you only get to see that person for a brief time, creates a powerful juxtaposition of emotions. Bittersweet is my musical response to these mixed feelings that I had during my travels. Dedicated to and written for Jennifer Reeves and the Hijinx Clarinet Quartet, who have been champions of my music for several years. Their friendship and support have been invaluable to me through the course of my musical journey.
