Journeys is an exploration of the versatility of the woodwind trio, an ensemble that has a very limited repertoire as of 2015. The Rondo challenges the ensemble in being able to split reoccurring figures across a 7/8 time signature, the Hymn utilizes a simple chorale to explore the more emotional ranges of the trio, and the Fantasy begins with simple statements of a theme that expands into a whirling tour de force that drives with energy to the end of the work.
