Like a Feather was written in the summer of 2016 and is dedicated to my close friend and colleague Noah Friedman. I wanted to create a piece that personified the special bond that I have built with Noah after working and performing with him for several years as part of the Syncro Percussion Duo. The piece begins with a simplistic, yet uplifting theme that perpetually grows and blossoms through the course of the work. As the piece progresses, darker tinges of color are introduced, however the melodies always strive to bring the listener out of darkness and into a brighter state of existence. This, to me, depicts the essence of friendship where no matter what difficulties life throws at us, we can always trust our close friends to lift us up out of darkness and allow our souls to feel light, like a feather, once more.
