~ 5' performance time Commissioned by John Oelrich and the University of Tennessee at Martin to celebrate the 40th Annual Honor Band Festival As a music educator, I strongly feel that teaching music is a task that is incredibly important for the survival and evolution of our society and culture. Music gives us a flame of passion, inspiration, and introspection that allows us to think deeper about the world around us and transcend to a more emotionally rich state of being. It is thanks to the diligent work by so many music educators across the world that we are able to enjoy such a diverse and fruitful musical society today. This fanfare is dedicated to all music educators, music students, and the sacred fire that they wield that continues to illuminate humanity.
