Commissioned by Zachary McCoy, Aromi Park, and the Balmoral Chamber Orchestra The night is the perfect stage to display so many various human emotions: fear, passion, romance, tranquility, and reflection. I desired to create a work that would
fluidly showcase several sonic caricatures of the night. Given the circumstances for this commission, I took the opportunity to showcase the beautiful sounds of the harp, cello, and the often ignored viola in separate soloistic moments throughout the work. While not written as an intentional educational piece, this work offers ample opportunity to showcase a talented young harpist as well as moments for a young orchestra to properly play through long phrases with patience and mature musicality. |
